1. Eligibility & Clinical Consultations
Who is eligible for prescription weight management treatments?
Treatment eligibility is determined by strict UK clinical guidelines. You may qualify for prescription weight loss treatments if:
- You are aged 18 to 74 and reside in the United Kingdom.
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of $text{BMI} ge 30$ (classified as obese).
- You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of $text{BMI} ge 27$ along with a weight-related health condition (such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, elevated cholesterol, or sleep apnoea).
Our prescribers will evaluate your submitted health data during consultation to confirm safety before approving any treatment.
How does the online consultation work?
The process is simple, confidential, and completed entirely online:
- Complete Questionnaire: Answer detailed health questions regarding your weight, height, medical history, and existing medications.
- Clinical Review: A GPhC/GMC registered prescriber evaluates your answers to assess whether treatment is clinically safe and appropriate.
- Dispensing & Delivery: Once approved, our registered UK pharmacy dispenses your medication in cold-chain packaging for express delivery.
Why do I need to submit photographic ID or weight verification?
Under General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards for online healthcare, prescribers must verify patient identity and clinical suitability. In certain cases, our clinical team may ask you to upload photo ID (e.g., driver’s licence or passport) or a photo of your scales to confirm your identity and recorded weight prior to issuing a prescription.
Will you inform my NHS GP about my treatment?
Yes. Good Medical Practice guidelines advise sharing prescription information with your regular NHS GP to maintain continuous patient safety. During consultation, we ask for your GP details. If you choose to opt out of GP notification, you assume responsibility for informing your primary healthcare provider of any weight loss medication prescribed through our service.
2. Delivery & Temperature Control
How does cold-chain delivery keep medication cold?
Injectable weight loss treatments are temperature-sensitive and must be maintained between 2°C and 8°C. We ship all cold-chain medications using validated, insulated thermal packaging fitted with specialized ice gel packs that maintain safe refrigerated temperatures for up to 48 hours during transit.
What should I do immediately when my delivery arrives?
As soon as you receive your parcel, open the outer packaging and place your pen medication directly into a domestic refrigerator (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze the medication.
Is the packaging discreet?
Yes. We respect your privacy. All orders are dispatched in completely unbranded, plain cardboard boxes or mailing bags. There is no mention of the pharmacy name, weight loss, or internal contents on the exterior of the parcel.
What happens if I miss my delivery?
Because prescription medicines cannot be left in unsecure safe places, the courier will leave a card or email notification allowing you to reschedule delivery or pick up the parcel from a local sorting office. Please collect or reschedule immediately to prevent cold-chain temperature disruption.
3. Treatment Usage & Side Effects
What are the common side effects of weight management treatments?
Like all prescription medicines, weight management treatments can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal and typically lessen over time as your body adjusts:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhoea or constipation
- Mild indigestion or heartburn
- Headaches or temporary fatigue
Staying well-hydrated, eating smaller meals, and avoiding heavy, fatty foods can help minimize these symptoms.
What should I do if I experience severe side effects?
If you experience persistent or severe side effects (such as severe abdominal pain spreading to your back, yellowing of skin or eyes, or signs of a allergic reaction like facial swelling or breathing difficulty), stop treatment immediately and seek emergency medical care by calling 999 or visiting A&E.
Can I contact a clinician if I have questions during my treatment?
Absolutely. Ongoing clinical support is included with your consultation. You can reach out to our pharmacy clinical team at any time via support@medicalweightpharmacy.co.uk for advice on dosing, side effect management, or treatment progression.
4. Orders, Payments & Refunds
Can I return my medication for a refund?
Under the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 and UK pharmacy law, prescription medicines cannot be returned once dispatched from the pharmacy, as returned medicines cannot be safely resold. However, if your order arrives damaged, leaking, or faulty, contact customer care within 24 hours with photos for a replacement review.
What happens if my prescription request is declined by the prescriber?
If our clinical team determines that requested treatment is unsafe or unsuitable based on your medical assessment, your consultation will be declined and any pre-authorised payment will be refunded in full within 3 to 5 business days.
Medical Emergency Advice: Our online consultations are for non-urgent clinical assessment. If you are unwell, experience severe pain, or require emergency care, call 999 or visit your nearest NHS Accident & Emergency (A&E) department.
